Dakota - Siberian Husky

Gender: male
Age: 5 years old
Color: white with beige streak down his back
Eye Color: blue
Cats: No
Dogs: Okay with older dogs, not good with puppies or small dogs
Kids: good with older kids
Reason for rehoming: Dakota's owners are older and are planning to move within the year. Dakota was their daughter's dog but she moved and left Dakota with them. Dakota is neutered and up to date on his vaccines. He has mild epilepsy that is controlled with medication. He does have a sensitive stomach, his owners think he is allergic to chicken. Otherwise he is a healthy boy.
His owner says "Dakota loves attention and being outside. He will chase and try to catch birds and squirrels. He is usually in the back yard, he has not been on a leash very often. He can be very energetic. Loves the dog he has grown up with, but does not seem too fond of puppies or smaller dogs. He is very vocal and lets us know when he wants something - at times I feel like he is really talking to me."

Dakota is not crate trained and is used to having his owners at home with him. He can sit and shake hands and lie down. Dakota is well behaved while being brushed. He is good in the car, but his owner says he likes to "yodel" while going on car rides.

Leo - Siberian Husky/Pitt mix

Gender: maleclick to enlarge
Age: 1 year old
Color: tan and white
Eye Color: hazel
Cats: yes, currently lives with a cat
Dogs: yes, plays well with others
Kids: yes, lives with a 5 year old child
Reason for rehoming: Leo's family loves him very much, and has taken great care of him. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, on Frontline and Heartguard, and has been through basic obedience training. He is also crate trained, rides well in the car, and is well behaved for brushing and bathing.
Leo's family lives in a rural area and they do not have a fenced yard. Leo is a door-darter and frequently escapes and runs loose. Leo has the Siberian Husky's high prey drive, and there are some farms in the area. Leo's owners are worried that if he chases farm animals he may be injured, or that he may get hit by a car. They feel he would be better off in a home with a fenced yard where he could get plenty of exercize without the risk of escaping and being hurt.
click to enlargeLeo has mild separation anxiety. He needs to be crated when left alone, and it would be best for him to have a home with someone who is home a lot. Right now Leo spends a maximum of 10 hours a week alone. Leo plays well with other dogs, and currently lives with a cat and 5 year old child. He has had basic obedience training and listens well, but can't be trusted off leash outside of a securely fenced area.
Leo is friendly, social and energetic. He loves to swim and run. He knows the commands sit, stay, come, leave it and back up on command. He also knows go swimming, drop it, down, paw, get your toys and kennel up. He walks well on a leash with a Halti.
